A gender reveal scan is a non-invasive ultrasound that determines the sex of your baby during pregnancy. This scan is an opportunity to bond with your baby while ensuring they’re growing and developing as expected.
Determines Your Baby’s Gender
During the scan, our expert sonographers use ultrasound technology to examine your baby’s genitals, allowing us to determine their sex with a high degree of accuracy.
Please note:
Only the gender of baby will be examined. Fetal health and development will not be evaluated on the gender scan.
At My Little Love, the gender is visible from 15 weeks for parents who are eager to learn their baby’s gender. Scans done before 15 weeks can be inaccurate as the baby is still too small to see the gender clearly.
Hydrate Well
While you don’t need a full bladder like earlier pregnancy scans, staying hydrated can help improve the clarity of the ultrasound images. It is advised to drink at least 2 liters of water per day during the entirety of the pregnancy.

Here’s what happens during your appointment:
Comfortable Experience
You’ll relax on a padded exam bed while a sonographer places a small transducer on your abdomen.
Clear Ultrasound Imaging
The transducer emits sound waves to create detailed images of your baby on a monitor.
Gender Determination
The sonographer examines the baby’s genitals and reveals the gender, either to you directly or in a way you choose, such as a sealed envelope for a later reveal.
While gender scans are generally highly accurate, no ultrasound can guarantee 100% certainty. Factors such as:
– The baby’s position during the scan
– The mother’s body mass index (BMI)
– The amount of amniotic fluid
…can all affect visibility.

R550 – 15 to 17 weeks gestation (30min appointment. Gender alone with mini 4D)
R650 – 15 to 17 weeks gestation (30min appointment. Includes a Dating/ Growth Scan to determine baby’s gestational age/weight).
R750 – 24 weeks plus (45 – 60min appointment. Includes growth scan, umbilical artery, doppler, gender and 4D ultrascound scan)
